Nutrition Department

About the Department

The Department of Applied Nutrition and Public health was established in the year 2019 and offers B.Sc Applied Nutrition and Public Health course with combinations of Botany, Zoology or Chemistry. This course enables the students to study and understand different aspects of Nutrition. The students are trained to work in different areas like Hospitals, Food industries and Community nutrition. The Department has two well-equipped labs to train the students to plan Diet for different age groups, based on disease conditions, to perform biochemistry and food science experiments.

Vision

  • To teach the students the importance of nutrition and diet on living a calm existence.

Mission

  • To educate the pupils of the value of the various food groups and the manner in which they contribute to the elimination of metabolic diseases.
  • To enhance one's skills in health advocacy.
  • To offer a solid foundation of knowledge for the study of human nutrition.
  • To support the growth of a robust dietetics profession.

    c) Ms. V. Harika delivered an Extension Lecture on "Eating Disorders in Adolescents" at St. Joseph's Junior College on 7th August 2021.

    d) A Health talk on "Access to Diabetes care: If not now, when?" by Ms. Moumita Paul Chowdhury, Certified Diabetes Educator and Assistant Professor, Mallareddy Reddy University, on 16th November 2021 on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.

  • a) Attended a National e-Seminar on Holistic Nutrition for Healthy Nation by Bhavan Vivekananda college and University college for women 23rd & 24th September 2021.

    b) Attended a National webinar on "Importance of Nutrition in Everyday life" Organized by TSWRDC(W), Mahendrahills, Hyderabad in September 2021.

    c) Attended a webinar on Nutritional Support in Critically Ill Diabetic Patients conducted by Hexagon Nutrition on 29th May 2020.

    a) E. Shreyanandalahari of B.Sc nutrition had won 2nd prize in intercollege recipe competition at Diabetic fete organized University college for women in November 2021.

    b) Students of B.Sc Nutrition- Aishwarya, Rishika and Ramya have won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in the Maggi Magic in Minutes online cookery contest conducted by Nestle India in April 2021.

    c) B.Sc Nutrition Final year students have won prizes in quiz competition on the occasion of World Diabetes Day in October 2021 conducted by Kasturba Gandhi Degree & PG College for Women, Maredpally, Secunderabad.
