Department of Computer Science was introduced in the year 1990 with computers as a subject for the courses of B.Sc. (MPCs) and also initiated B.Com.(Computers) in the year 1995. The main focus of the department is to make students tech savvy, teach computer skills and take up the subject as career and provide better job opportunities to the students. The department has three well equipped computer science labs with the latest software required for the syllabus.
The new course of B.A.(Computer Applications) is introduced in the year 2018 with CBCS syllabus. Due to the demand of the course,intake for the B.Com.(Computers)course is enhanced from 170 to 230 students. B.Sc. (MSCs) and B.Sc.(Data Science) were also introduced in the academic year 2020 & 2021 respectively.
Every year computer science department conducts extension lecturers on hardware and networking, FDPs, other events on advanced technologies such as Robotics, Computer Networking and Big data.
The Department not only concentrates on academics but also supports administrative work like website maintenance, extra support for NAAC work and other activities in the college.
The teaching staff of the department attended and presented papers at national and state level seminars at various colleges and universities. The department is planning for new courses which are in demand, for MoUs with industries and certification courses.
a) Science Day Celebrations
Science Day with the theme Future of STI(Science, Technology and Innovations) is celebrated in the college on 2nd March, 2021. Dr. TanviArora, Scientist, NGRI, Hyderabad was the Chief Guest for the program.
b) Seminars/Webinars
An International seminar on Cyber Security is conducted on 24th November, 2021. The speaker for the seminar was Valluri Ramesh, a 'C' Level Executive at Infraparadigm LLC at Addison, Texas, USA. The topic was Cyber Security and Hacking.
World Computer Literacy Day
Faculty Development Programme on ICT Tools was conducted for 8 days i.e. from 06-11-2020 to 13-11-2020.Mrs. Veda Sri, Assistant professor, Dept. of Computer Science & ICT Co-ordinator of RBVRR College was the speaker for the complete program. This FDP was mainly conducted to provide an Online Platform for Teaching through Pandemic. Faculty were trained to teach and evaluate online. G-Suite was the platform, in which all the faculty were trained as it provides many applications required for Online Teaching and Evaluation.
Skill Sigma to Present Certificates on Completion of Python Program.
Orientation & Induction Program
The Induction Program for all the first year students was conducted online on 09-12-2020. Principal Dr. K. Narmada, Vice Principal Dr. M. Amarnatha Sharma, Academic Coordinator A. VidyaJyothi, Functions & Programs Coordinator V. Sreesailam and all the Head of Departments spoke about their respective departments and also about the curricular and co-curricular activities were been explained to the students and all the staff were introduced to the students.
